Riding a sport-touring motorcycle allows a rider to explore the unknown twisting backroads beyond the distant horizon. When on such rides, a comfortable helmet means the difference between enjoyment (good) and endurance (painful, thus bad). If it fits well, is relatively light, is safe, and provides some control of the interior climate, otherwise known as venting, then you have a good helmet. Shark S900 is a helmet which matches this description especially well, and yet goes far beyond what you would expect at such a reasonable price. In fact, you will be surprised at how much you get with this new lid from the French company, and you might not believe what you read.

The S900 is Shark’s top helmet in what it calls the “Sport/Route” category – we might call it sport-touring – and is listed right below their racing lids (also in this category). It is made very well, is simple to use, and comes in a large assortment of paint and graphics and has a five-year warranty. The shell is constructed of fiberglass using a thermoplastic injection process which allows Shark to achieve an aerodynamic design with precise balance. Inside the shell is an exclusive multi-density EPS foam liner which is supposed to significantly improve impact absorption. The lining material is, of course, removable and washable as per standard, and the neck roll is a special design made of a synthetic leather aiding comfort. The face shield is thick and treated with their “Total Vision” coating, mimicking their much more expensive race-bred models, which prevents it from fogging up. It is mounted in place with a push-button retention system which is a breeze to use. The S900 also features in integrated sun visor, meaning that all you need is the visor it ships with.
