Last year I won the King of Canterbury, Nelson Street Circuit and the NZ National Championship on a 2009 GSXR 600 it was a fantastic year on a fantastic bike thanks to Avon City Suzuki.

This year I have started all over again with the all new L1 Suzuki GSXR 600 the bike is completely different from last year’s bike in a good way, just when you think they can’t make them any better. I have started to race prepare the L1 Suzuki GSXR 600 for this year’s NZ National Championship and have just put the race fairings, Ohlins suspension and yoshi exhaust system on to go out and compete in our King of Levels and King of Canterbury series and have found that I am about 0.5sec off my NZ National lap times from last year which is absolutely awesome considering the engine is standard.

I have found the new L1 Suzuki GSXR 600 much better under heavy braking easier to turn the bike into corners and can get on the power earlier out of the corners all great improvements and probably the biggest contributor to this would be the lighter weight of the new bike.

I now have the engine out doing all the engine upgrades to compete in this year’s NZ National 600 Supersport Championship and I am looking forward to see how much more horsepower we can get out of the new L1 Suzuki GSXR 600.
