The Third Annual Boulevard Motorcycle Rally is being held in Napier next month. The rally is held alternately in the North and South Islands, and for 2010, Napier is the chosen venue.
Simon Meade, Suzuki New Zealand’s Motorcycle Sales manager, says the Boulevard range has proved hugely popular over the past five years, and the rally has to be limited in entry numbers. "Each year we are over-subscribed, and have to turn away riders. We’re restricted by the capacity of the venues we can book" he said.
While the bikes may be big and tough, the riders themselves are a civilized bunch – most are family men and women with the average age around 45. On last year’s rally, the oldest rider was in his seventies, and the youngest just nineteen!
Participants will stay in Napier, with a vineyard tour and brunch organised for the Sunday.
